TPO has more than 50 staff members – all experienced mental health professionals as well as some management and support staff. All staff are Cambodian.

Executive Director

Dr. Sotheara (MD, MPM, Senior Consultant Psychiatrist, PhD) has been working in Mental Health since 1998. He’s been TPO’s Executive Director since 2002. He was among the first generation of Cambodian psychiatrists to graduate after Cambodia’s Civil War and Khmer Rouge period. Dr. Sody (MD, Psychiatrist) provides psychiatric assessment, treatment and psychotherapy to clients at the TPO Treatment Center in Phnom Penh. She is a pioneer of mental health work in Cambodia. Dr. Sothy (MD, Psychiatrist) provides psychiatric assessments and treats clients at the TPO Treatment Center in Phnom Penh. He obtained his MD at the University of Health Sciences and completed his residency in psychiatry in 2005. He has been providing treatment to people with mental issues and survivors of torture ever since.

Training Coordinator

Phaneth, who holds a BA in Psychology and an MA in Counseling Psychology, is in charge of TPO’s Training Unit in Phnom Penh. She was a clinic manager for TPO’s treatment center, where she also counsels and treats people with mental health and psychosocial issues. Trainer/Counselor

Endeth works as a trainer and counselor at the TPO Training Center. He prepares and delivers training in a wide range of mental health related topics. He has been with TPO since 2011. Before that, he worked in community mental health providing support to youth and children with disabilities. Endeth holds a Master Degree in Development in 2013,  BA in Psychology from the Royal University Phnom Penh (2002)  as well as BA in Educational Science and English, also from RUPP (2003).

Leap runs TPO’s project that aims to Strengthen the Local Mental Mental Health Systems in Cambodia. Project Coordinator

Sokunnara work as project coordinator for TPO’s  from 2015.Sokunnara holds a BA in Psychology (2011) and MA in Clinical Psychology (2012)​,specializing in Child and Adolescent Development. SUN Solida

Project Assistant and Counselor

Solida holds a B.A in psychology (2008) from RUPP and a B.A in Educational Science and English in 2010. Currently she acts as deputy coordinator with Justice and Relief for Survivors of the Khmer Rouge project and provides mental health support for Civil Parties of the ECCC, known as ‘Khmer Rouge Tribunal’. She is also part of TPO’s staff in support of Phka Sla project. As counselor she works at TPO’s treatment center. As trainer she contributes to TPO’s Training Unit with her knowledge in Child Development.

Project Coordinator

Chariya is managing the Healing and Reconciliation for Victims of Torture of Khmer Rouge Trauma. Chariya has come on board at TPO in 2013 to lead the Truth, Reconciliation and Healing – Towards a Shared Future project. She obtained her BA Psychology at the Royal University of Phnom Penh in 2006 and also holds an MA in Peace Education from the University for Peace in Costa Rica.

SANG Seum

 Counselor

Seum is working for the Healing and Reconciliation for Victims of Torture of Khmer Rouge Trauma. He was a counselor with TPO’s project Mental Health Care & Psychosocial Support for Cambodian Prisoners. He provides counseling and therapy to inmates and training on mental health to prison staff. Seum graduated as Psychiatric Nurse at the University of Health Sciences (2001), and also obtained his MA in Clinical Psychology from the Royal University of Phnom Penh (2012).

Rathana is working for Healing and Reconciliation for Victims of Torture of Khmer Rouge Trauma. She has been working for TPO’s Truth, Reconciliation and Healing – Towards a Shared Future project in Battambang province since 2013 and in 2015 joined the team in Phnom Penh. She graduated from the Royal University of Phnom Penh in 2013 with a BA in Psychology.

Counselor

Lady is a counselor for project Healing and Reconciliation for Victims of Torture of Khmer Rouge Trauma . Lady has been with TPO since 2002. He was a team leader for TPO’s Improving Mental Health and Access to Justice for Women project in Kampong Thom province.  He graduated as a nurse at the Technical School for Medical Care in Phnom Penh (’97) and completed a bachelor degree in Human Resource Management at Angkor City Institute (2008).

Counselor

Leakhena is a counselor for project Healing and Reconciliation for Victims of Torture of Khmer Rouge Trauma. She has been working for TPO’s treatment center as a clinical assistant since April 2016. She graduated from the Royal University of Phnom Penh in 2016 with a BA in Psychology.

Project Coordinator

Vathana is managing the Promoting Gender Equality and Improving Access to Justice for Female Survivors and Victims of Gender Based Violence under Khmer Rouge Regime project. She also worked for TPO in the period 2011–2014 as a clinical assistant for Justice and Relief for Survivors of the Khmer Rouge project. Vathana holds a BA in  Psychology at the Royal University of Phnom Penh and BA in English TESOL at Pannasatra University of Cambodia.

Maline is a counselor for the Promoting Gender Equality and Improving Access to Justice for Female Survivors and Victims of Gender Based Violence under Khmer Rouge Regime project. She also worked for TPO in the period 2011–2014 as a counselor for Justice and Relief for Survivors of the Khmer Rouge project.

Counselor

Sokhan is a counselor with the Promoting Gender Equality and Improving Access to Justice for Female Survivors and Victims of Gender Based Violence under Khmer Rouge Regime. Before joining TPO in 2001, he worked as a trainer at the Center of Psycho-Pedagogy Training of Kampong Thom province. He also has more than 10 years’ experience as a social worker and counselor with various NGOs. Sokhan holds a BA in Psychology and also obtained his Degree in Pedagogy at the National Institute of Education, Cambodia.

Counselor 

Hun is a counselor with the Promoting Gender Equality and Improving Access to Justice for Female Survivors and Victims of Gender Based Violence under Khmer Rouge Regime. Before he was involved as a counselor for TPO’s Justice and Relief for Survivors of the Khmer Rouge project since 2007. He provides counseling to Khmer Rouge survivors who are witnesses and civil parties at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), also known as the ‘Khmer Rouge Tribunal’.

Counselor

Thida work as a counselor with the Promoting Gender Equality and Improving Access to Justice for Female Survivors and Victims of Gender Based Violence under Khmer Rouge Regime. She also worked for TPO in 2015 as a counselor for community response to violence against women and children in Siem Reap province. She completed her bachelor degree in Psychology in 2010 at the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP).

Clinical Office Assistant & Receptionist

Ousaphea is a Registered Nurse (from Battambang Regional Nursing School) and works as a general nurse and receptionist at the TPO Treatment Center in Phnom Penh. She provides psycho-education and arranges clinical assessments to clients, assists with administering medication and maintains the client database. She has been working with TPO since 2006.

Clinical Office Assistant & Receptionist

Sreymom supports TPO’s treatment center by entering all clinical data in our database. She works as receptionist at the TPO Treatment Centre. She offers psycho-education and clinical assessments to clients, administers medication and maintains the client database. She has been working for TPO since April 2016.

Finance Manager

Bunlay, TPO’s finance manager, has been working with TPO since 2004. He holds a BA in Accounting from the National Institute of Management as well as an MA in Finance from the University of Cambodia.

Finance Assistant

Bunsocheata has been assisting TPO’s Finance Department since 2005, monitoring TPO accounts and preparing financial reports and statements. She holds a BA in Accounting from Vanda Institute in Phnom Penh.

Meas leads and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Phnom Penh office. She supports management, takes care of administrative work as well as Human Resources, and manages TPO’s support staff. Sokhoeun has been supporting TPO with a variety of administrative tasks since 2010. Research, Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator

Sopheap monitors and evaluates TPO’s programs and also designs and implements research projects. She is also actively involved in TPO’s fundraising activities, and supervises TPO’s Community Mental Health programs in Siem Reap, Battambang and Kampong Thom provinces. Sopheap started with TPO in 2009, after obtaining her BA in Psychology from the Royal University of Phnom Penh.
